Our rooms

We named each of our rooms after a bird that lives in or passes through Cyprus. The names are Greek, so you will not find them in an English field guide, but you can, at different times of the year identify the birds themselves, crossing the Cypriot sky.

Kranga room in Aperanti
European roller (Kranga) bird on a branch

Kranga (European Roller)

The Kranga makes its way from sub-Saharan Africa to Cyprus each summer, a bird that BirdLife Cyprus, where Tassos works, has spent years monitoring.

We named this room after it and painted the walls a gorgeous blue—similar to the Kranga’s plumes. Get a good night’s rest on the comfy wooden double bed, and enjoy a small private balcony that looks directly down into the central courtyard. The private bathroom (with bathtub) is just off the balcony rather than inside the room, but still entirely your own. For one or two people who want something compact (15 sqm) and full of morning light.

Agrotourism stay: Oct–May €60 / €70 per night · Jun–Sep €65 / €75 per night

Coliving season: 2 weeks €550 / €742 · Per month €950 / €1,300

Sgartili room in Aperanti
European Goldfinch (Sgartili) bird in the water

Sgartili (European Goldfinch)

The Sgartili is a bird of field edges and meadow paths, small and vivid, foraging on thistles and wildflower seeds in the same ground where Sara collects plants on her foraging walks.

Our Sgartili room (15 sqm) also sits on the ground floor, overlooking the central courtyard. With amber-yellow walls and dark exposed wooden beams overhead, the original stone of the 1915 structure is still visible at the doorway. A wooden double bed, stone floors, and a private bathroom (with shower) make it perfect for one or two people.

Thoupi room in Aperanti
Cyprus Scops Owl (Thoupi)

Thoupi (Cyprus Scops Owl)

The Thoupi is one of three endemic Cypriot birds found nowhere else on earth. It is nocturnal and nearly impossible to see, but after dark its double-noted call carries across the orchards and rooftops of villages like Pera Orinis.

Thoupi is the room most open to the outside world. At 27 sqm on the upper floor, it has both a balcony facing the road and a terrace looking back into the inner yard, so you can move between the village and the quiet of the house depending on the hour. Inside, guests can sleep on a wrought-iron double bed or a comfy sofa bed. This room also has a private bathroom with a bathtub. For a couple with a child, or three people who need room to breathe.

Agrotourism stay: Oct–May from €70 / €80 per night · Jun–Sep from €75 / €85 per night.

Coliving season : 2 weeks €630 / €805 · Per month €1,100 / €1,400

Alkioni Room in Aperanti
Kingfisher (Alkioni) bird on a branch
Kingfisher (Alkioni) bird on a branch

Alkioni (Kingfisher)

In Greek mythology, Zeus commanded the sea to be still so the Alkioni (kingfisher) could nest undisturbed through the depths of winter. Those 14 days became known as alkionides meres, the halcyon days.

Alkioni is the largest room in the house, 36 sqm on the ground floor, where the original 1915 stone arch still spans the full width of the ceiling. The walls are blue, a decorative plaster shelf runs the length of one wall holding old ceramics and ironwork collected over the years, and there is both a wrought-iron double bed and a very comfortable double sofa bed. It is a room that holds a lot of the house's history in it, and enough space for up to four people. Private bathroom with shower.

Agrotourism stay: Oct–May from €80 / €90 per night · Jun–Sep from €85 / €95 per night.

Coliving season: 2 weeks €714 / €896 · Per month €1,250 / €1,550
